starters & your team
As you browse the site, you'll notice a list of starters found here. Only gym leaders and staff can ignore the list and make up a party. New trainers, coordinators, etc. will choose from the list, and raise the Pokémon accordingly. Team Rocket will do the same since they have Professor Thorn to hand out starters to them. Simply choose which one you'd like and use the sprite in the designated area on your character template.
As for your team, you are permitted up to eight Pokémon. This is opposed to the six you are allowed in the games. We the staff know how hard it is to choose just six flippin' Pokémon. We always wish we could have like one more. Well, here at TVB, we're giving you two more. We're so nice. Our staff at the moment is pretty small, so instead of making a thread where you might get the Pokémon you want, we're letting you buy them. It makes them easier and gives you more reason to spend your lovely PokéDollars. If you would like another Pokémon, please post here appropriately to get it. Once the transaction is complete, you will have your Pokémon and the correct amount of monies will be deducted from your account. As you add Pokémon, you'll need to update your PC information accordingly.
battling
Battling will be member versus member here. We aren't going to create a separate account with a generic trainer that you can battle. It's too much work for so little staff. However, if we just say go ahead a battle as you please, you'll find you may stumble upon a godmodder or powerplayer. They aren't fun. To prevent them from even existing, you'll notice our rules for combat. Similar to the games, you will have "turns" when battling. This means ONE post is the equivalent to ONE turn. Staff will always be watching battles, but here are some things to keep in mind.
- Types
- Levels
- Surroundings (Ex. a battle in Pacifidlog Town would favor water types, and battles in Lavaridge town would favor fire types.)
Now then, we should go over what your Pokémon can do in a single battle.
- In one turn, your Pokémon can preform ONE direct attack move, (Ex. Flamethrower, razor leaf, etc.) and either ONE dodge (you can only dodge three times per battle even if you switch out Pokémon) or ONE stat affecting move. (Ex. String shot, yawn, etc.)
- If you plan on switching Pokémon in a turn, you may only preform ONE direct attack, ONE dodge, or ONE stat affecting move. No combination's are permitted.
- You can only switch Pokémon ONCE per battle.
- We don't focus on items here. Sorry. Too much of a hassle.
- At the end of a match, the winning and losing Pokémon will each gain ONE level. Should you switch Pokémon during the battle, they too will gain ONE level.
leveling up & evolution
Like the games, your Pokémon will level up and evolve. Leveling up can be done in one of two ways. First, after a Pokémon battle with another member, each participating Pokémon will gain ONE level. If you wish to level them up without battling, you can buy them a new level with the PokéDollar system.
Evolution is somewhat the same. However, it is strictly money system available. What we mean is: Say Cyndaquil is level 16. Like in the games, Cyndaquil should be able to evolve. It's your choice however when you'd like your Pokémon to evolve; either at the level of available evolution or waiting a few levels. You go to the money system thread and purchase the ability to evolve your Pokémon. Some of you may be thinking, "Well that seems dumb." Honestly, we just needed something else for you to earn in the money system. Well that isn't a very good excuse huh? Okay well, let's try this. Yes this is a Pokémon site but it is also a LITERATE role play. So we like to see dedication in our role players. People will work harder for what they want.
cute little eggs
Personally, when I watched the TV show, I always wanted to carry around an egg. So, we get to do that here! Staff will randomly ask if you'd like a mystery egg. This is totally random. If we feel like bestowing an egg upon you, we will. If you choose not to take the egg, we will give it to someone else. Please don't beg or ask for eggs. It's random. Trust me, everyone will get an egg eventually. Now then, on to how it is you'll hatch the egg.
Eggs are hatched through interaction. Therefore, to hatch the egg, you will need to have a certain amount of in-character posts. We staffies will be stalking you to make sure.
This is the egg sprite you will be using.
I know, so cute. :3
I know, so cute. :3
Once you have an egg, it will take TEN in-character posts to hatch it. However, here's the catch: The ten posts MUST be on one thread and you must mention the egg somehow in the TEN posts.
Meaning: You cannot put three posts from one thread with seven in another thread and hatch the egg. If you leave one thread before the ten is up, it's reset and you must begin all over again. So, just stick to one thread and mention the egg in ten of your posts. Then BOOM, your eggie hatches.
You are allowed to role play in other threads. You just can't take the egg to another thread and say, "OH I GOT TEN! HATCH LITTLE GUY!" by adding posts from two or more separate threads.
